Game of Thrones may just be an epic tale of conflict between Sales and Marketing. Well, these two battalions must learn to operate in harmony or a business is left with little choices. Every business wants more numbers for sure but we can’t have more numbers without building awareness, without generating interest. That’s what marketing is for. Businesses want to push sales but they often restrict budgets for lead nurturing. Although Sales and Marketing factions have such a common cause, yet no one recognises the other’s job. The catch is that marketing is at times a thankless job as sales almost never admits the role of marketing in easing their job. At the end incentives are only for the sales guys for selling more. What happens is that marketing goes into sleep and sales gets crushed under pressure. Making the point is a lovely infographic sent by Erin Gentry (eringentry.com) about the same tussle in a Game of Thrones way.
